On Monday, I posted my Snow White & The Seven Dwarfs mixtape. Here’s a little video that I quickly compiled as a preview for those who have not yet downloaded it. I also wanted to thank everyone who sent me an email/left me a message in my ask with your feedback! It really meant a lot to read your thoughts and suggestions for upcoming mixtapes. Cheers!

These are the tracks featured in the preview —
[06] Run! Hide! In The Woods! Anywhere!: AIR / Parade
[08] Will You Take Me There?: Julianna Barwick / Unit 7
[21] Chasing The Evil Queen/Her Death: Vive la Fête / Noir Désir
[22] Love’s First Kiss/Happily Ever After: Julianna Barwick / Flown

Who is the fairest one of all? I’ve had this post trapped in my “Drafts” for quite a while, I just couldn’t find the right songs for some of the scenes. Luckily, a few of my favorite bands released their new albums over the past couple months. So I was able to fill in the spaces with some great new tunes. I was initially inspired to make a mixtape for Snow White when I first heard Julianna Barwick’s heavenly track, “Flown.” It reminded me of the ending scene, where Snow White was “sleeping” in her glass coffin awaiting her true love’s first kiss. I also used a bit of witch house (White Ring) to illustrate the Evil Queen’s point of view as an old hag. Naturally, I added a few songs from the film so that it could help illustrate the story and also give you the grand opportunity to sing along. One of my favorite parts in the mixtape is the last few seconds of “Noir Désir” by Vive la Fête, because it sounds like the Evil Queen’s scream before she plummets to her death. This is definitely my darkest mixtape thus far. Enjoy!

This is the second mixtape from my Love Actually series.

Their story: Listen as I introduce you to two characters in San Diego, California. Jenny is a very shy girl whom just moved in to the neighborhood with her very Conservative parents. On her first day as a Senior at a Catholic High School for Girls, she sits next to a brunette named Regina in her English class. Regina immediately takes notice of Jenny and begins talking to her, falling in love. About a week later, Regina makes a move on Jenny by holding her hand during class. Jenny goes home and thinks about what had happened, questioning whether their holding hands meant the start of a “friendship” or the start of a “relationship.” Jenny was secretly hoping for the latter. As the months fly by, their friendship grows stronger and stronger. One Friday night at the movies, Regina leans over to kiss Jenny. Later that night, they start talking about their perfect first date as a couple. Jenny explained that her ideal first date would be a romantic trip up to the mountains, where they would sleep in a log cabin and just enjoy each other’s company. Graduation Day arrives, but Jenny is nowhere to be found. Regina soon discovers that Jenny told her parents about being a lesbian a few days prior and has been kept at home ever since. Regina wants to prove her love for Jenny, so she takes a chance by introducing herself to Jenny’s parents and expressing how much she cares for their daughter. After a very long and emotional discussion, they ended up approving of Jenny and Regina’s love for each other. As a surprise, Regina drove Jenny up to the mountains for their “first date” together. She then uncovers Jenny’s eyes to reveal her perfect log cabin. They then sit next to the warm fire and spend the night together. Their relationship has just begun.

This is the first mixtape from my Love Actually series.
Their Story: Listen as I introduce you to two lonely characters in Brooklyn, New York. Joanna is a waitress who enjoys spending her free time people-watching in Tom’s Diner. Christopher is a struggling painter living alone in his eighteenth-floor apartment. Neither of them have been in a relationship, but have always wanted to find their other half. Every day, he would watch her walk down the street, not knowing that she lives just one floor below him. They finally meet, have a few drinks, listen to their favorite vinyls, and then spend several years together. However, as time goes on, Christopher becomes an alcoholic and starts to neglect Joanna; he even cheats on her with another woman. During that summer, Joanna decides to pack her things and leave him. Months after the breakup, they both realize that they still love each other despite everything that has happened. Finally, Christopher quits his constant drinking and promiscuity so that they can get back together, hoping to make amends.
The lyrics for each song within this mix personifies one of our characters, sometimes even both. It was very emotional for me to stitch a few of these songs together, because I honestly felt like I personally knew Joanna and Christopher. I felt like a fly on the wall throughout their entire relationship. At first, you’ll want their love to last forever. Then, you’ll want Joanna to build up strength to leave Christopher and their ruined relationship behind. In the end, you’ll want things to work out for them, because they’re really meant for each other. But, it’s up to your imagination if you want their story to go beyond that.
Track List— [01] Joanna, The People-Watcher: Suzanne Vega / Tom’s Diner[02] Christopher, The Lonely Painter: Dustin O’Halloran / Opus 20[03] How They First Met: SNOWMINE / Hologram[04] I Wanna Talk To You So Bad: One For The Team / I Got Tamed[05] Their First Date: The Raveonettes / Hallucinations[06] Listening To His Vinyl Collection: Ghost and Tape / Onesome[07] Slow Dancing: Billie Holiday / Everything I Have Is Yours[08] Making Love: Sigur Rós / Andvari[09] Waking Up Together: Savery & The Banjo Consorsium / Until Morning[10] As The Seasons Pass: Milosh / You Make Me Feel[11] Never Let Me Go: Explosions In The Sky / Your Hand In Mine[12] Come Back Home: Rachel Yamagata / Duet[13] Complications: I Break Horses / No Way Outro[14] It’s All For You: Lana Del Rey / Video Games[15] I Begged You Not To Go: Cat’s Eyes / I Knew It Was Over[16] The Breakup: Joanna Newsom / Does Not Suffice[17] Days Spent Without Each Other: Goldmund / Threnody[18] Joanna Still Loves Him: Yo La Tengo / Shadows[19] Christopher Still Loves Her: James Blake / A Case Of You[20] Together Again: Jónsi / Hengilas

All aboard, Tumblr! This is the Polar Express, a holiday mixtape that will take you on an enchanting journey up to the North Pole. Included within the mix are a few non-traditional Christmas songs that somewhat remind me of the winter season, such as “Atlas Song” by Jónsi and Alex. To me, it sounds like you’re slowly waking up on Christmas morning. So, grab your pajamas, relax in your seat, and drink a rich cup of hot cocoa as you listen to the magical ringing of the silver bells. Believe.

I haven’t seen Bambi (1942) since I was a child, probably three or four. I decided to re-watch the Disney classic a few weeks ago and realized how many themes it teaches us; curiosity, youth, fear, death, growth, and love. Put on your Sunday clothes, there’s lots of world out there! I am so ecstatic to present you with this rather extensive mixtape for a very simple story about a special love between two adorable robots, named WALL•E and Eve. The song that inspired me to create this mixtape was Beach House’s “Real Love.” It illustrates the ending scene where Eve puts WALL•E back together almost perfectly, with the appropriate song title and the clanking noises in the beginning. I made this a few hours before watching Deathly Hallows - Part I. I’ll be listening to it again while waiting outside of the theatre for Deathly Hallows - Part II. No words can express my love for Harry Potter.

What if each Disney character had their own theme song? I’ve had this mixtape idea scribbled on many pages throughout my notebook. My “M is For” project inspired me to gather, cut, and paste all of the songs I’ve written down and make the most magical mixtape to share with tumblr. Each of the following tracks represents a particular Disney character, with pieces of lyrics to help illustrate their stories. Enjoy!
[01] Minnie Mouse: B*Witched / Mickey“Oh, Mickey. You’re so fine, you’re so fine, you blow my mind. Hey, Mickey. You take me by the heart when you take me by the hand. Oh, Mickey you’re so pretty. Can’t you understand? It’s guys like you, Mickey..”
[02] Cinderella & The Fairy Godmother: Spice Girls / WannabeCinderella: “Yo! [04] Evil Queen: M2M / Mirror Mirror“Mirror, mirror. Lie to me, show me what I want to see. Why don’t I like the girl I see, the one who’s standing right in front of me? Mirror mirror hanging on the wall, you don’t have to tell me who’s the biggest fool of all..”
[05] Eve: Madonna / Ray of Light“She’s got herself a universe gone quickly, for the call of thunder threatens everyone. [06] Ariel: The Corrs / BreathlessAriel to Eric: “Go on, go on. Leave me breathless. The daylight’s fading slowly, but time with you is standing still. Adventure is out there! This was a very difficult mixtape to put together, because I couldn’t find the right song for some of the scenes. But, I’m very happy with the end result. I’ve listened to this one so many times. I was so stoked to find “Cumulus” in my iTunes, it’s just what I needed for the mixtape. When I listen to “Need You Now,” I can just picture dogs flying in airplanes and shooting darts at Russell. I think this mixtape would go great with a cup of tea and a day out on the grass looking up at the clouds. I really hope you enjoy it. Caw-Caw! Rawr!

Hello, everyone. I’m finally finished with Finals and I couldn’t be happier. I’m working Grad Nite tonight at Disneyland, patting down the Seniors. Awkward times. But enough about me, I have some news: First, I’m almost done with my Up mixtape! It will be ready for download no later than Monday, May 23.
Second, I have another mixtape in the works. If you’ve been keeping up with my “M is For” project, then you will definitely enjoy this one. I’ll be using songs from the 70’s - early 00’s. Each song will be for a specific Disney character, almost as if they were singing the song themselves. For example, “Dreams” by The Cranberries will be for Alice.

Oh my life is changing every dayEvery possible wayThough my dreams, it’s never quite as it seems‘Cause you’re a dream to meDream to me

Seriously. I’m having so much fun putting this one together! But, I have no idea what to title the mixtape. Any suggestions?

The Fox and the Hound (1981) will always have a place in my heart. It’s an adorable film about friendship and love, definitely one of my all-time favorite Disney films. I decided to create this mixtape to help illustrate Tod and Copper’s touching story. The majority of the tracks are relatively ‘acoustic’, because I believe they evoke much more emotion than my usual go-to: ‘experimental’. With that said, I suggest you sit back with a cup of tea, relax with your eyes closed, and enjoy.
TIP: Listen with this and this playing in the background.
